Bathing our Elephants!

Elephant ride
Being on this chair was way more scary than being on the neck of an Elephant. The views were lovely.
Sians first attempt of buying the Elephants trust
First try on an Elephant. We stayed at Elephant Village for 3 days. The most amazing experience for both of us.
The Junks
We cruised along in a junk boat, and it was very posh! It is a very touristy area to go to, as you can see we were not the only ones there despite it being winter in Vietnam too!
Limestone Caves in Halong Bay
OK, it may be dramatic lighting, but the caves were huge. There are thousands of them inside the limestone islands dotted around the bay.
Very rare Beret Monkey
Unfortunaltely the Vietnamese have hunted most mammals to extinction. So we did not see so many animals, we saw this one at a rehabilitation centre and breeding program. This monkey is the most colourful monkey in the world.
Relaxing in Cuc Phuong National Park
We did trekking and cycling for 3 days. We were the only guests staying overnight. Now that is exclusive!

Beautiful Ancient town of Hoi An
And Fitty enjoying the spoils of her new tailor made Shirt dress, also spoiled herself to a few more things.
Hoi An is very good place to get cheap clothes tailor made.
Hoi An is very good place to get cheap clothes tailor made.
After the hetic times of bike riding
We have spent the time in Hoi An relaxing :D
Pork dishes in Vietnam have been very tasty
Mother Hen on drying coffee beans
All along the roads people lay out sheets to dry there coffee beans in front of their houses. Women then shuffle there feet through it. Chickens peck through it, dogs sleep on it. Then roasted and exported, as Vietnam is the worlds second largest exporter, bet you did not think all that happened before you enjoy your pot of coffee.
Just one of the views we have seen in Vietnam
Mopeds
We have had a competition to find the moped with the most things or people. This was a good find. Sian has seen a family of five on a bike. Also seen 12 bags of ducks each containing about 8 live ducks, a pig and a mobile kitchen to name a few.
Rollercoaster ride
Before we arrived in Dalat, we stopped off at a waterfall which you reach by going down a little rollercoaster. Again, Fitty not used to fairground rides was a little apprehensive.
Taking a rest to check out the view
Sian coped well with the helmet hair.
Oh yeah, and it was on the back of a motor bike!
Fitty and Ocean whilst on the road. We travelled about 160 km each day. Sian and I both grinned all the time as it was such a buzz on the back of the bike taking in all the sights.
Onto the Central Highlands
We left HCMC and travelled up into the Highlands, which was beautiful. Rice fields a plenty, as well as coffee, tea, rubber, tapioca, silk, vegetable, fruit, mushroom and flower farms often helped along by a lone water buffalo.

Cutting a pineapple with minimum wastage
Fitty looking intently at our home stay lady cutting a pineapple, trying to learn.
Boy carrying all the rice paper out in to the sun for drying
He gets a couple of glasses of milk if he can carry more than 7 layers.
Rice noodle factory
They make a rice paste then steam it on a hot plate to make it look like this picture, then it is dried in the sun and chopped up to make noodles. Very tasty
This is the local land market
Selling from baby ducklings to snakes as well as your bog standard fruit and veg.
Floating Market
They tie fruit on to a big pole on their boat, to show what they are selling, it was not a beautiful floating market, but still an authentic trade market.
Typical method of transport for locals of the Mekong Delta
Mt Kinabalu
We did not end up climbing in the end. Fitty was quite upset by this, not so much me :D

Sian's photography is coming along nicely
Mantanani Island
Just after the trauma of White Water Rafting, Fitty is feeling a lot more relaxed
First rapid which was a grade 4
Sian was particularly scared before heading out almost did not do it but ended up loving it. Fitty on the other hand little bit scared then once we got going she remained petrified throughout.
The snake we thought was a branch
Not very big for our first sighting of a snake but Fitty said it still counts as scary as it was venomous.
hmm attractive
This was Fitty on our trek through the jungle it was very muddy to say the least but awesome. Mud got to as high as the top of the attractive orange wellies and the water was leech infested. Luckily we also had our attractive leech socks. Really was not a day for fashion.
Kinabatangan River in Sabah
This is where we went for our morning and afternoon boat trips to see wildlife. Corridor of life they called it.
View from our balcony
In the waters behind Sian were crocodiles, we did not go for a swim!!
